We are pleased to welcome you to a unique part of North Yorkshire, Mousehole is a luxuriously restored stone lodge set in mature woodlands in the village of Oldstead, the elevated position allows for quintessential views of the countryside, a place to relax and enjoy nature. Part of the world’s 21 Dark Skies Nature Reserves. It’s no wonder why it’s referred to as ‘God’s own County’ by so many.

A Fully Renovated Holiday Let in the Heart of Oldstead, North Yorkshire
A full renovation of mousehole was completed in 2024, the internal space was designed and created to give a feeling of tranquillity and warmth. The living space has a vaulted ceiling with a feature kingpost, relax in front of the log burner while catching up on the latest movie. The kitchen is facing towards the living area so the chefs don’t need to miss out either!
The master bedroom benefits from crittall style French windows, so if you’re after a relaxing morning sipping tea in bed you can do this with doors open, enjoy the birdsong or watch the young lambs playing with one another.
The second bedroom is conveniently laid out with twin beds for families, a cosy space to enjoy a good night’s sleep.
The bathroom features a large walk-in shower with a custom vanity and heated towel rail
The exterior has a wraparound patio to the front of the property with steps to the front and ramp access to the side a great place to enjoy a drink with friends before going out for dinner.
The keen eye will notice one or two Mouseman items of furniture, this is in our DNA, a family business of 6 generations it was inevitable we would place a few items inside.

Mousehole is located just on the outskirts of the village towards Kilburn. There are miles of beautiful walks from the doorstep including walking to Sutton Bank to enjoy the view or watch the gliders. The area is excellent for cycling/mountain biking, with Yearsley Woods and Dalby Forest all within driving distance.
Kilburn, the home of Robert Thompson “Mouseman “ furniture featured on “Antiques Roadshow “ among many more programs, is only 2 miles away, with two showrooms, and you can watch the famous craftsman working. If you look closely in the lodge you may be able to spot a Mouse or two. Ampleforth College and Abbey, are just 4 miles away with an amazing Visitor Centre and Cafe. The market towns of Easingwold, Helmsley and the City of York are just a few of the places we love to visit ourselves and have a spot of lunch. Along with the coastal towns of Whitby, Scarborough and Sandsend are a great day out if you enjoy the coast and the best fish and chips.

We are close to many Michelin-starred restaurants, this is the ultimate foodie getaway. A short walk into the village we have the world-famous Blackswan of Oldstead. Nestled on the edge of the North York Moors between the impressive Byland Abbey ruins and the Kilburn White Horse, The Black Swan is a Michelin-starred, 4 AA Rosette restaurant with rooms by chef Tommy Banks.
